All I can say is, wow, I recently met a woman named **Sarah. She serves as a reminder that while some people have it better than others, some have had it worse. It's all about how you perceive what you've been through and how you handle it positively, which can greatly impact your life.
Sarah grew up in a dysfunctional household with six siblings, where she experienced abuse from both her father and stepfather. With years of therapy, she views her life as a learning experience. I had to inquire, "Have you ever shared this information with your husband or children?" One of the most profound things she said to me was, "If it doesn't improve my children's lives, I keep it to myself. If it doesn't benefit my family, there's no need for them to know." She emphasized the importance of protecting loved ones from certain aspects of our past. She acknowledged that while physical scars from abuse can heal, the mental scars take longer to fade. She stressed that her abuser, though not a substance abuser or a pedophile, taught her the valuable lesson that dwelling in negativity only attracts more negativity. To move forward positively, we must change our perspective and focus on the good in life. The law of attraction states that negativity breeds more negativity, while positivity attracts positive outcomes.
Following this truly enlightening discussion, I was amazed by the few episodes of her life that she shared, but more significantly, I was deeply impressed by her words. The power of positivity in our speech is immense, as it has a significant impact on our mental well-being. It is crucial to safeguard our mental health, as it plays a vital role in our overall health - mentally, physically, and spiritually. Sarah reiterated this point multiple times during our conversation, emphasizing that the challenges she faced ultimately led her to establish a connection with God, transforming her into a strong, independent woman.
Ladies, the strength of positivity is remarkable! I, too, require reminders of this, and Sarah provided just that. I am a firm believer that God guides me to where I need to be, not only for my own learning but also to possibly remind Sarah that she is a blessing to other women through sharing a part of her life's journey.
Discover 5 essential steps to enhance personal growth and positivity. Learn how to cultivate a positive mindset, set achievable goals, embrace challenges as opportunities, prioritize self-care, and surround yourself with supportive individuals. By following these steps, you can foster a growth-oriented mentality and navigate life's journey with resilience and optimism.
Acknowledge and challenge negative thoughts set a goal for yourself ie: When a negative thought arises, write it down in a journal to remove it from your mind. By taking this action, you can transfer it onto paper and then place it in a "no contact box," like a trash can, burn it, or bury it in a box to discard later.
Practice gratitude daily whether verbal, written or your choice of communication to yourself. Articulating your positive thoughts verbally is the first step towards practicing daily self-care.
Surround yourself with positive and supportive people this action plan is critical and I can not stress enough do not let someone else bring their negativity into your world your space! You own it! A support system of even 1 to 2 people is better than none at all. Support could be a pastor, therapist, friend, sibling, parent etc.
Engage in regular physical activity. Exercise is key to mental and physical healthiness. Walking for 10 minutes is better that nothing at all. It has been proven that exercising for just 10 minutes will greatly improve your mental and physical. Practice deep breathing for 5 mins, walk around in nature, go barefoot in the yard for 10 minutes. These are just a few examples of self care as well.
Set realistic goals and celebrate small victories. I need to follow this advice myself as I don't acknowledge or celebrate my own small victories as much as I should! Establishing achievable and realistic goals is crucial. It's important to begin with small steps. For instance, today, I will avoid consuming additional sugar in my diet. I will take a 10-minute solo walk outdoors. Later, I will relax with a book after dinner, and before bed, I will dedicate 10 minutes to practicing yoga. By breaking down my goals into manageable tasks by the end of my day I have successfully achieved my goals as planned and I will be proud of my accomplishment!
It's important to take care of YOU!
